Salutations and Greetings, HOG Members and other Visitors!
As the end of January approaches, we have finished up our
first month of 2007 with a new and excited batch of Primary Officers
and a bundle of new and some returning Discretionary Officers.
How about this new looking Web Site!? Thanks, Webmaster Winn!
The keys to a GREAT Chapter lie with your Board of Directors
and their ability to function as a team and lead our group. Director
Judy's goals for the year are to have LOTS OF RIDES and LOTS OF FUN
which will be achieved through team work, great planning, and
excellent communication by and between the officers, our chapter
members, and our proud sponsor: Redwood Harley-Davidson.
Like stepping in to a comfortable pair of riding boots, our
seasoned Officers have revved the engines, and our schedule and
activities roared to life with an ambitious start: January was
chock-a-block full of meetings for various committees such as
Activities, Road Captains, Strategic Planning, (Chapter Goals For the
Year) LOH, and the Board of Directors' regular assemblage. Great
things are afoot and it is this Officer's opinion that 2007 will go down as
one of the best years California North Coast HOG has ever experienced.
So far, Activities have started off with a bang and nary a
wimper (one Chapter Ride got rained out): For the first time in
years, Jan 1 was clear and about 30 HOGS were able to go on the
annual Polar Bear Run to Brookings Harbor, Oregon. We met up with
several CCAux members and all enjoyed a great lunch at Smuggler's
Cove. We made CCAux Asst. Director Tony N.'s day at Pelican Bay when
we took the back road south and gave a neighborly "howdy doo" and
"va-ROOM" to him up "in the tower."
The first LOH Progressive Dinner Ride for the year was
freezing cold and dark and icy and slippery, and everyone drove. The
food was different, the games were fun, and no one went away hungry!
January was a memorable month for Chapter Members Dewey and
Deedra, whose new Custom Chopper designed by Dewey and built by
Dewey's son Doug won a first place trophy at the Easy Riders Show in
Sacramento. Several of us attended, voted, and cheered them on.
A Chapter Ride to Orick found about 30 going on a trial "Pie
Run Challenge" to get pie in Orick. Several CCAux members met us
there in Orick. Most everyone had breakfast, and many gave
pie from the Palm Cafe' two thumbs up.
(Mine was awesome! "Mixed Fruit" : Raspberry, Rhubarb + Cherry!)
A final note about memories for 2006: The Photo Scrap Books
are all finally done and in the customer lounge on or under the table
AT THE DEALERSHIP! Please take time to look. I made THREE books -I
love photos, and the reports I have heard so far are so do other
members....So much stuff happened, I put it all-or most all- in. Enjoy!
Please bring me your photos and information about rides or events you
attend either with or without HOG: Names, dates, places, and I'll put
them in this year's books. Yeah there will probably be more than one
book this year too...
Stay tuned, y'all, and meanwhile, keep the rubber side down, shiny side
up!
Respectfully Submitted
Your Chapter Historian, Phylis G.
