January First, Two Thousand and Eight, A.D.
Happy New Year, HOG Brothers and Sisters!
First thing I'd like to say is Thank You to
Rockey, Phebe, and Redwood Harley-Davidson for
being our proud Chapter Sponsor . We are blessed
to have such a great organization behind us. So,
next time you're in the Dealership poke your head
in to Rockey's office and tell him, "Hi!" and
"Thank You for your support of our HOG Chapter!"
Second I'd like to thank the membership for
voting for me as Chapter Secretary for the coming
year. I am honored to once again be a part
of Primary Officer quorum. (I promise I will try
to keep the meeting notes shorter, Mark!) I'm
looking forward to stepping back in to the
Secretary's position. It's something that I was
just getting the hang of last time (2005) when
all at once my term was over, and being
overwhelmed by it, I chose not to run again! Silly me.
Third, for those of you who missed one or both of
the HOG Christmas parties in December, I am sorry
to say you missed a couple of well planned fun
nights with good food attended by some great
people. Huddled around the pit cooking steaks
together -sharing and laughing- with a few dozen
of our closest biker friends at the Elks in
Eureka is an opportunity I don't like to miss.
The buffet of prime rib, salmon and chicken in
Crescent City was simply superb, as were the
shenanigans as demonstrated by Tony and Debi and
others of both the Humboldt and the Crescent City
contingent. Thanks to Phil for setting up Santa
on his bike and taking all those photos!
We're off and running, throttles opening,
engines revving, on our way to a new year of
adventures both on the road and off. Your 2008
Board of Directors, once again headed by
DirectorJudy Mitchell-Rice are in the early
meeting and planning stages for making the coming
year's activities as much fun and varied as last
year's. Please participate when you can!
Officer News and Notes:
Rebecca Graves has admirably been the head of our
Activities Committee and is looking for someone
interested in working as her assistant through
out the coming year. If you can help her out, please let her know!
I have held the position of Chapter Historian for
the past 4 + years, and am ready to relinquish
the glue stick. I have very much enjoyed
compiling and keeping a visual track of chapter
events and activities, but I have now taken back
a position as Primary Officer, which is limiting
my time. If you like scrap booking and want an
interesting behind the scenes way to get to know
and recognize your fellow HOG Chapter members,
then the Historian's position may be of interest
to you. Please let me know! No experience
required! You are asked to attend Board Of
Directors meetings when you can, and come to the monthly Chapter Meetings.
It is our continued hope that if any member has
an idea for a ride or activity they will step
forward and let the Board Of Directors KNOW!
(either a phone call, email, send it snail mail,
or drop it off in writing with someone at the
cash wrap desk at the Dealership). That being
said, it is also our hope that if any member is
in a quandary about any function of our Chapter,
or has a problem with the way something is going,
that they will also step up and tell us! In order
for your Chapter to run the best it possibly can we need to know ASAP!
We encourage you to please fill in the (optional)
SURVEY when you fill out your membership renewal
form (located on the web site, or you may pick
one up at a meeting or at the Dealership)This
will help your BOD get to know you, what you
ride, and to get a handle on what things you as
members like to do best. It's also a good place
to jot down your suggestions before you turn it
in! This is your Chapter! Let's Ride!
